Former New Zealand under-19 all-rounder Anna Browning joins several new faces in the Otago Sparks for the 2024-25 season.
The defending Hallyburton Johnstone Shield champions had some gaps to fill this season and Browning has nabbed one of them.
She has played a dozen list A and T20 games for the Auckland Hearts.
The 20-year-old is still finding her feet at the top level and will have to fight for a spot in the starting XI.
Medium pace swing bowler Harriett Cuttance gets her first contract and Saffron Wilson, who scored her maiden list A century last season against Central Districts, returns to the contract list.
The door was opened to the trio by the retirement of spinner Sophie Oldershaw and the unavailability of Gemma Adams and Paige Loggenberg.
Polly Inglis was promoted to a central contract and that helped free up some space as well.
Sparks trio Suzie Bates, Hayley Jensen and Eden Carson are also contracted to the White Ferns.
Otago has won two list A titles in the past three seasons and Otago Cricket Association general manager of performance Steve Martin said many of the younger players in the squad were now starting to realise their potential.
"Despite losing Sophie, Gemma and Paige this season, our squad has a settled and exciting look about it", he said.
"I am thrilled that we have been able to offer Anna, Saffron and Harriett contract opportunities. They are all very talented young players who will add depth across our squad.
"With the inclusion of White Ferns Suzie Bates, Hayley Jensen, Eden Carson and Polly Inglis, there is certainly an exciting look about the season ahead."
Otago’s middle order of Caitlin Blakely (50), Felicity Robertson (38), Inglis (35 not out) and Olivia Gain (42) teamed up to help the Sparks register a six-wicket win in the final against Wellington at the University Oval in February. And Emma Black took three for 31 to help restrict the visitors to 211.
