A dominant and consistent performance led to University-Albion A being crowned Dunedin premier champions again on Saturday.
Uni-Albion beat Physed A 65-52 to make no race of it.
The defending champions had a dream start to the game, shooters Neve Beattie and Grace Southby slotting goals from all over the circle.
Uni-Albion went into the first-quarter break feeling confident with a 19-10 lead.
The second quarter was again a dominant one for Uni-Albion.
The spark this time was young centre Olivia Mavor, who gained three turnovers in the second quarter for her team.
The final 15 minutes were also close, Uni-Albion winning the quarter 17-16.
Physed showed great determination in the second half, but it was not enough to repair the damage done in the first quarter.
Things were much tighter in the third-fourth game. College A beat Uni-Albion B 57-54.
Uni-Albion B threw everything they had at College, clawing back from a 10-goal deficit at three-quarter time, but College’s grind early in the game was enough to seal the win.
The Southern Magpies beat Physed B 58-43 to claim the Otago Life Members Cup in the fifth-sixth game.
Physed B were ahead for much of the game before unforced errors in the third quarter gave Southern an opportunity to take control.
The Magpies took the lead and built on it for the rest of the game.
The seventh-eighth game between South Pac Titans Tāiko and St Hilda’s A had a lot on the line with the losers going down to premier B in the 2025 season.
St Hilda’s had the upper hand for the first half but South Pac fought back, and it was 46-46 heading into the final quarter.
The experience of South Pac gave them the upper hand, as they surged to a 63-57 win.
St Hilda’s will swap places with Columba A, who won the premier B final.
