Sailor 1911 Naginata-Togi Fountain Pen

My Sailor 1911 holds pride of place in my pen collection! my collection is not large but does include a Platignum, a Lamy, a couple of older Parker pens, a wonderful Levenger, from France and of course my 1911. I brought this pen of an English chap who moved here to New Zealand a good number of years ago and was one of his personal pens and he had put on it a "Music" nib. The music nib is a broad nib suitable for doing a small bit of calligraphy and all in all is one heck of a fine (good) nib !!! So it is safe to say if I was starting afresh buying fountain pens this would near or at the top of my list of pens to buy & own !!!

The pen itself is virtually identical to my Platinum President pen, which I love. The nib is like nothing else I have written with. Fantastically smooth and wet. I am not used to writing at different angles for different widths, but this nib will deliver if you can. I love the fine writing it gives when used upside down. I guess the nib falls between two camps - it is not quite normal but it is not a real italic type nib. I love it, but find it rather challenging to write nicely with. The pen was out of stock when I ordered, and the shop contacted me very quickly to discuss whether I wanted to wait or cancel the order. It came within their suggested timetable, was well packaged, and I am very pleased with this seller. I have used them several times and have always been impressed.

Having decided to get back to writing with a "proper" pen and knowing my Montblanc Meisterstuck leaks like a tap and hasn't been used for over 10 years, after reading many reports decided on the Sailor 1911 for my birthday, it is a joy to write with and doesn't leak!!!!!! The Naginata-Togi renowned nib is lovely...the ink flows seamlessly across the page. I'm just annoyed I wasted the last 10-15 years without a real pen due to a leaky Montblanc!
