As a left handed I use a broad oblique nib in my fountain pen. I am looking to purchase a new pen. Can you help?. Thank you. A.C.
I'm not quite sure what you are after here. You have posted this question under the Sheaffer Viewpoint calligraphy pen: is it a calligraphy pen you are looking for? All of the calligraphy pens and nibs that we keep are straight-cut stub nibs with no pellet or 'nib' on the point and are designed to give different stroke widths according to the direction of movement, unlike a true italic nib which is a flexible nib who's stroke width varies with the amount of pressure applied. More pressure splays the nib resulting in a broader stroke. True italic nibs are not very common and stub nibs are often referred to as italic. An oblique nib however is cut at an angle, but still has the pellet or 'nib' on the point and this to a large extent reduces or even eliminates the difference in stroke width due to direction. These come as ' left foot' or 'right foot' and are not generally designated as suitable for right or left handers, it is a matter of personal preference and comfort. If it is a replacement fountain pen with an oblique broad nib that you need, this link will take you to a filter page from our website with them on: http://www.thepencompany.com/filter.php?search=MFsyXVswXT04MiYwWzZdWzBdPTE3&page=all In addition we can also supply any Lamy fountain pen with an oblique broad (or medium) nib. Lamy have discontinued these nibs, but we still have some in stock and can swap them on to any Lamy pen, other than those with a gold nib, at no extra cost. All Lamy pens with a gold nib can be ordered with an oblique nib as standard. Lamy oblique nibs are 'left foot'.
