A local confectionery company has a sweet haul at a national award ceremony.

Patagonia Chocolates, a company from Queenstown, has won four awards at the 2024 Ice Cream and Gelato Awards held in Auckland on Friday.

The company had a massive showing, winning the championship for classic flavoured ice cream, chocolate gelato or sorbet, in-fruit sorbet and the kids’ choice.

These awards continue its excellence in confectionery and add to the already stacked number of awards it has won over the past decade, including the Formula Foods Supreme champion boutique and gold award, which it won in 2023 for its Hazelnut Cremino ice cream.

The awards feature sweet treats from around the country from ice cream makers like Lewis Road Creamery and New Zealand Natural.

Chief Judge Geoff Scott said that the category winners were outstanding.

"The ones that stood out for me were the category champions, displaying superb ‘honest’ flavours — they were well constructed with perfect mouth feel," he said.
